Activities in Namibia - Birdwatching

With a wide range of habitats from coastal wetlands or savannahs to riverline forest, Namibia is home to over 630 species of birds.

Birdwatchers should head for the parks and reserves along the Caprivi Strip, which has the highest concentration of birds in the whole country, and also the wetlands of Walvis Bay and Sandwich Harbour. Here, pelicans and flamingos are common and this is the breeding ground of the endangered Damara tern, while the nearby dunes are home to the Gray's lark and the dune lark.

Activity - Canoeing and whitewater rafting

A canoe trip of one of Namibia's perennial rivers is great fun, whether it's a 30 minute paddle on the Zambezi or a fully fledged expedition down the Kunene or Orange rivers.
For wildlife enthusiasts, gliding down the river in a canoe is an excellent way of getting a close look at birds and game without frightening them away.
A number of organizations arrange trips with a reasonable price.
With a four-or five-day trip starting at around US$300 all inclusive.
